Capsule

Terms of Use

Last updated June 16, 2026

Welcome to Capsule. These terms are the agreement between you and Capsule for using the service. We've kept them short and plain. By signing in, you agree to them.

What Capsule is

Capsule is a private, invite-only space where one family keeps its tree, photos, stories, recipes, and events, and stays in touch. It is for your family's own use — not a public social network.

Your account

You can use Capsule only if a family historian has invited you or has your email on file. You're responsible for keeping access to the email tied to your account, since that's how you sign in. Please keep your account to yourself and don't let others sign in as you.

The content families share

Your family owns the memories, photos, recordings, and writing it adds to Capsule. You keep your rights to what you contribute; you simply allow Capsule to store and display it to your family so the archive works. By adding content, you confirm you have the right to share it with your family.

Being a good relative

Please use Capsule respectfully. Don't:

  • Upload content you don't have the right to share.
  • Harass other family members or post to harm someone.
  • Try to break, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the service or another family's data.
  • Use Capsule for anything unlawful.

The family historian helps manage the family's space, including the tree and who is invited.

The historian's role

Each family has a historian who curates the tree, sends invitations, and manages records. Historians can edit family records and remove content within their own family. They cannot see any other family.

Privacy

How we handle your information is described in our Privacy notice. In short: your data stays inside your family, is never sold, and is never used for advertising.

Ending your account

You can delete your account anytime from Settings. That removes your login. Because the family tree is a shared record, your place in it stays so the tree remains intact, unlinked from your login and managed by the historian. We may suspend access if an account is used in a way that breaks these terms or harms others.

No warranties

We work hard to keep Capsule reliable and your memories safe, but the service is provided “as is.” We can't promise it will always be available or error-free, and we're not liable for indirect or incidental losses to the extent the law allows. Keep your own copies of anything truly irreplaceable.

Changes

We may update these terms as Capsule grows. If we make a meaningful change, we'll update the date above and, where it matters, let your family know.
